Indian Wear Latkan Accessories Haul (Embellishments for Suits, Saris and Lehengas)

by Shivani on July 31, 2013

in Bridal, Hauls, Indian, Indian Wear Fashion

I’ve been shopping a lot for Indian suits and saris lately. Being a Punjabi, attending atleast one wedding a month is perfectly normal! (Everyone knows everyone lol) If you don’t know what latkans are then let me tell you. Latkans are like accessories, hangings or embellishments for Indian suits, saris and lehengas (they are like shiny hanging attachments for decoration of the garment). I think that should clear doubts for my non-indian readers. If not then keep a lookout for outfit posts coming up in the next few months. 🙂

Scroll down to see them in detail:

Indian suit and sari attachments and accessories Some of the latkans I got:

Indian saree and lehenga latkans and hangings

I got four of the ones below:

Indian sari and lehenga accessories and embellishments

The golden ones below are huge aren’t they?  They might look smaller in the picture but they are way larger than a Canadian dollar (for size comparison). They are actyally for a DIY to go on my YouTube channel. I have had that idea in mind for a long time and I don’t think there is ay DIY like it online so keep waiting for just a  little long and you will know what i’m talking about.

The pink one below is again for a DIY 😉 Only three of the ones from my entire haul of 11 are for DIYs. The rest of the 8 are for suits and saris.

Golden indian suit and sari hanging dori accessories.

I got these purple and magenta ones to match a sari I recently got in the contrasting colours.

I wouldn’t really get these from online stores. They are delicate and can end up breaking or have some beads/rhinestones missing. You should get these from Indian boutiques.

where can I buy these from I live in UK

Not too sure about that. I know there’s an INdian wedding exhibition in the UK called Asiana. Try exhibitions and google indian boutiques in UK. Else have a relative in India ship them to you

Hi Divy. I got these from a place in Chandigarh. You can get these from tailors or high end boutiques anywhere in India but I feel that they are more easily available in Punjab. Your best chance is to go tailors who stitch suits and ask them where to get them from. Also try high end designer lehenga and sari boutiques.

Reply

Shivani August 4, 2014 at 12:33 am

I don’t think so. I haven’t seen anyone wearing those on dupattas these days. I remember they were in some years ago. But you can definitely put latkans on your dupatta.
